Store coupons

Upsurge can import discount codes that already exist in your Shopify or WooCommerce store, so overlays and chatbots only offer codes that checkout will accept. Imports are read-only: Upsurge never creates, changes, or applies discounts in your store.

Requirements

StoreRequirement
ShopifyThe store is linked through the Upsurge Shopify app, and you selected Enable coupon import in the app to grant discount read access.
WooCommerceThe WooCommerce connection's REST credentials can read coupons and general store settings.

BigCommerce connections cannot import coupons. The store connection must belong to the same website as the campaign.

Import and select codes

The coupon picker appears in the overlay Coupon block and in the chatbot Discounts and coupons section.

  1. Choose the Store connection.
  2. Select Import / refresh coupons. The first import can take a few minutes for a large store; use Load more coupons to page through codes.
  3. Select the codes to offer. Unavailable codes show why, for example Expired, Restricted to specific customers, or Product restrictions are not supported for offers.
  4. Save the campaign.

After the first import, Upsurge refreshes the store's codes hourly. Changing the website or store in the picker clears its selection. Use Clear selection to return to a manually entered code.

Supported offers

Codes are offered only when Upsurge can describe them accurately:

  • order-wide percentage discounts;
  • order-wide fixed-amount discounts;
  • unrestricted Shopify free-shipping codes.

Minimum order amount or quantity, maximum order amount, one use per customer, non-combination, and expiry are shown to shoppers as terms. Customer, product, or category targeting, per-item discounts, subscription-only offers, buy-X-get-Y and app discounts, and restricted shipping remain unavailable. Checkout still has the final say on eligibility, stacking, and usage limits.

In overlays

A coupon block uses exactly one imported code. When a code is selected, the manual Coupon Code field is locked: This code is managed by your store. Clear the selection to enter a manual code.

Upsurge checks the code each time the overlay is served. If the selected code has expired, been deleted, or become restricted, the overlay is not shown. You can still pause or archive the campaign.

In chatbots

Select up to 20 imported codes alongside any Merchant offer codes you enter manually. Turning on coupons or discounts requires at least one manual or imported offer. The chatbot re-checks the selected codes on every message and only offers codes that are currently available.
